I worked on this last sunday early morning when i couldn't sleep after waking up at 11pm --- over slept but still feeling tired after my 2 days of continuous sewing of bed covers from thursday--inspite of being tired --i still manage to do this --- it a simple 3 inch border table cloth ---the finished size is 56" x 102"...

the material has a patchwork print --- suitable to make as a table cloth....

Another Wedding Bed Cover --All White 100% cotton

yes another wedding bed cover and an express one too--imagine i have to get this one done in 24 hours...but alhamdulillah i got everything done...this cover is made of 2 kinds of 100% white cotton. Its not visible in the picture --one is stripe and the skirt has this flower embedded...

the end product...

two cord piping ruffled pillows 28" x 18" , two 16" x 16" square pillows and a matching bolster...you will also notice the french pleated curtain at the back --it is layer with the sheer material -- somehow serve a backdrop effect...

by the way--this cover is a fitted bed cover at the bottom -- that is why it has a very nice well tucked effect---it has a 40" long of garters on the top and bottom corners of the bed...

the bed sides also have the cord piping and a double layered ruffles...the second layer at the bottom is almost 6" in length...

and i match a simple table runner --- in the dressing table...

a sweet outcome of a 24 hour project ;-) ... simply sweet and nice--my best wishes to the newly weds.....

From Duvet Cover to a Single Fitted Cover Set

This is another project this month that involved a duvet cover --it is not common in most malaysian homes to be using duvet covers ---most of us will be just too happy to have a comforter instead right? saves tha time of changing the covers...

So as not to waste the duvet that my client seldom use--we go green --hahahha--thats the 3R concept Reduce,Reuse, Recycle... my client has decided to covert it to a single fitted bed cover, and i manage to make 2 flange pillows 28" x 18" with cord piping and the matching cord piping bolster...

i am happy now --- duvet was saved and now reuseable fitted bed cover*which by the way fitted perfectly at all times) ... so lets go green?

From Duvet Cover to a Comforter

This is originally a duvet cover bought by my client overseas...must be more convenient for her to convert this to a comforter--so it was send to me---my job was to insert the fiberfill and quilt it..this is the 1st stage..inserting the fiber and pinning everything in place..

the best of greetings to all-- this project is not one of my latest -- it is one of the projects that i have done last year and since i have been updating my works in my blog --i got this in one of my past mails...glad i found it ...

this was send by my client -- in which i made a chair cover to her old wooden dining chairs--it not actually hers--its her landlords' ... but then again after making this --the chairs had a new look...new life ;-)

we decided on a dark colored material --- she has small children so dark brown was the final choice...

Testing my latest work -- yup, this time it is green..sweet---this is the header for the door..40inch with double layer header of box pleat and ruffled pleat-taking the same effect of pencil pleat---and accentuated with bows..

This is partly the header for the sliding door that is 112inches wide.

This is the curtain for the 3rd bedroom - header and body both sewn together w/ bias strip.

When i get the actually hanged pictures i will post it asap!--thanks for following the updates...

The material for this project is bought overseas--so it was very limited --- and since it is thai silk, my client want something that is light to handle and easy to remove when one wants to sleep on it..so it was more on a slip on bed cover, frilled around the bed...and i manage to get 2 simple pillows ...

I work on this roman blind recently ----its a 4 feet width window & the length is arouns 50inches in the kitchen of my client -- a black and white concept---the blind system is manual and homemade one ;-)

Duvet Cover

Duvet cover --more or less the malay version of "toto cover" - a mini mattress that is around 2inch thick - my friend did this patchwork--her collection of her excess materials--nice combination ... and what i did is quilt it to another cotton material and sew it as a duvet cover....

simply nice...her grand children will have a grand time messing it up ;-) hehe...

Work & sew on table cloths--may it be round or square--there are times when there are excess materials and most of the time making a matching table cloth is the best idea..this one below is an oblong shape table cloth--since it is round on the ends the border must be bias cut...

this is a long one--120 inch long table runner..

This is a version of the malay safra -- 3ft x 5ft long with 3 inch border...

Sofa Covers from USJ

The chair cover ---material is a velvet greenish in color...this is fitted in and stapled and snap on the chair due to pull & stretch it into place...

Puan Rohani's Bed Cover

This job requires me to make a bed cover - quilted, fitted and cord piped border all around, ruffled skirting around the bed. Sham pillows with embroidered lace around it... the material is a white embroidered cotton and around the i sew embroidered cotton laces 2inch width.

the small rectangular sham pillow covers is a cream colored thai silk --with lining...and two of the pillows is sewn with crystal fringes...

This lecture table is installed with plastic so as to keep it clean and easy to manage.

The round banquet table covers with a square table runner with 3 inch border.

This one is a removable table skirting thats sewn all together like a table cloth--so it is easier to manage especially when a mobile table is needed on improvise reception areas for registration counters and the like. the material is chosen for its suitability of thickness and easier management--easy to wash and no need for ironing.

Double Layer Pelmet Header

This is the latest work that i have installed over the weekend. Its a double layer pelmet. The material is a velvet printed material combined with a plain maroon velvet.

The Pelmet is attached by Velcro strips glue to the outer layer of the railing since my client has only 2 layers of railings. The pelmet is adjusted 5 ...inches higher to give the length of the curtain a longer effect..

the soft finishings has bow tiebacks and the table runners has matching tussels on each ends.

One of the things i usually do when there are excess materials after doing a curtain or any project, i try to use up all the materials to create something decorative -- as soft furnishings..my client want some pillows, so here it is...

Table Skirting for Meeting Room

This is a 62 ft long table skirting with pelmet headers and accentuated by goblets. It is atteched to the table using a velcro snap strips for easy installation.

THE CREAMY LACEY BABY BASKET

It has been a long while since i have posted something -- hope to get posted every work since i am doing this sewing work fulltime...so here it is...

This is the latest in my works. An antique baby basket given a new life with a new cream paint, new cotton mattress & pillows, cream covers and a lacey skirting...after i have finished this i am so happy--because it turned out to be so daintily sweet and exclusively simple--how i love ruffled skirts and bows...hope the... new baby will have lovely dreams as he or she lays in it ;-)

Six nos of 2 layered cream bows with buttons are evenly distributed around the baby basket.

Hello, i just finished this new project--it is a patchwork throw pillow..

Base is cream cotton material--cut into 8" squares, folded and sewn together to get a 14" base..on top of the base is patchwork of 100% printed cotton imported material (Guaranteed not to fade due to washing and time). Bordered with 2 1/2" embroidered cotton lace...and the sides and at the back i use cream colored cotton satin with 18" zip at the back.

I have 4 nos ready to be sold out .... I am selling this for RM 45 per pillow case of 18" x 18" (Pillow not included)

The assortment and combination of colors of the printed materials on top of it makes it so ideal to match any furnitures or curtains in your home...

Ziana's Baby Clothes Basket

I finished this last night..its a Baby Clothes Basket...my friend order it for her upcoming nephew ..so it has to be blue..inside it is the normal plastic basket lined with sponge and covered with the cloth material with cartoon prints.

Ruffled skirt valance around it with a 2.5 inch cotton embroidered lace all around..

For the corners i add bows with dark blue buttons..... simply nice :-)

hi again...

this is the latest on me--this week i had the time to work on my fitted bedsheet..i did thought of having one with frills, perhaps a bed valance or skirt around the bedcover..but since my room has limited space and my bed has this wooden corners and all--i have decided to settle in a fitted bedsheet and simple pillow cases..

i like making my own fitted sheets...i use 1-inch garters for its corners..it is stronger and last longer than the ones we get to buy in dept. stores--the grip is good --- and no matter how you toss and turn the whole night---i get to get up with a well done bed :-)

pink curtains and now - my pinky bedsheets...

kind of sweet...with my hunny bunnies and the gang fuzzing on the headboard...

another view..makes me smile with satisfaction everytime i go into the room..the personal touch, feeling and satisfaction.

and this is what i did to the wall---i got me some of this stick on wall stickers...now i have nightingales flying around when i sleep... hehehhe

The Lappy Cover

My daughter went home one weekend asking me to make her new netbook a purse-like cover--she said she wanted one so as to protect her white netbook.

Impromtu request especially from my daughter is like doing something in a breeze and at no time it was done...so here is the end product of that request.

It is quilted anf fiber filled with a zap velcro and it goes with a small bag with an eight inch zip for the charger, usb or other miscellaneous items..

The buttons where her choice --to accentuate a certain design..i had lots around -- she choose to put lots of it ;-) --- like playing and saying "lets put more!"

I am accepting orders for this purpose -- so if you wish to have one of these do email me and lets discuss details ok?

This post was actually my foster sister's work--yes---we are both in the curtain business..she is residing in Kelantan, doing it fulltime there and so if you are staying somewhere in that area and you want to have your curtains done--call me and i will get you connected with her-she too just like me do all diiferent designs of curtains--and she can do it for you from the material till its is sewn and nicely hung in your home--hehehhe--

She made this for her sister in law who was having the wedding of her son -- weddings = new curtains ;-)

We made a simple pelamin - using the half moon curtain rod and the 20" length lace made in box pleat.

curtains around the house have the double layer box pleat.

For the Bilik Pengantin---bedcover with comforter - all in purple too :-0

This is a 4 nako window -- the last two layers are made using french pleats. The cream lacey curtain is 110" material. The botton part is cut to make the header, in a way maximizing the intricate part and placing it on top where it is emphasized. --(actually i added blue rosettes to accentuate the design---will post the pic later,k)

Curtains again--- Pelmet w/ fringes

I made this 2 weeks before Raya Haji. Pelmet Style header ( since the material is quite thick and heavy - it can do without the "Pengeras" or the layer for hardener ) and to have an intricate touch fringes were added on the edges....

Another Cushion Cover project...

Most of my jobs i have done lately were more on cushion covers..that is due to the fact you can't find ready made covers for some sofa designs. This time it is a sofa made of rattan ---below is the material used.... my client this time, after telling me her preferences--leave to me the choosing of the material ... the country flower motif---the flowers fitted well with her current curtains and the material was thick and durable.

the finished cushion covers --- its a 3+2+1 settee... this is the 3 seater ..

the 2 seater set --- take note that its has rope piping on the edges, all around.

This is another of the customized sofa covers that i made this year. Customized sofa covers needs to have pattern for a good fit. If there is no current covers -- i need to go and see the sofa and make on the spot patterns for the sofa..but if the sofa has a current cover -- one can just send it to me and I make the pattern from the current covers.

In this particular project of mine --since it has an old cover, I did what i usually do, make a pattern out of the current one and sew it with its exact measurements --I was excited when I finally finish it, up to the moment that i have to install it...i honestly have to talk about this on my page and share you what i have learn from my experience...

At that moment --the cover didn't fit well...it was tight here and there and there was a four inch gap when zipping the covers...my world comes tumbling down when i am not satisfied w/ the outcome of my work (the more when you think of a not happy customer) ...to cut it short --- my client overlooked tell me their earlier problem in the original sofa cover. You see, there are some covers that after washing it, it shrinks and this one shrank after washing...but then maybe because the material has the tendency to stretch out -- they were able to stretch it to the maximum and use it till its high time to change the covers.Without that information and following the pattern of a shrank cover it definitely didn't fit especially the new material does not have the property to stretch out.

Well, every sewers best quote is that "we make it, so we can definitely make it work" ... so i had to bring the whole thing back, unpick and redo it all over again...so here i am showing to you the outcome of this sofa...it went well though its an added workload -- but then again what matters is that everyone is happy in the end and i have a happy client :-)

The thing i learned from here is to really make sure next time to confirm with my clients that the old covers truly have a nice fit to the sofa, better still see it with my own eyes ;-) ... take the points where it needs adjustments and all. One has to take note that there are fabrics that don't stretch out and there are fabrics that need pre-soaking before sewing it.

Salam to everyone...i know that i haven't been updating this blog for quite sometime..i had been busy the past months on work, family, my health and of course sewing....i wish to thank the people who never gets tired of visiting my blog and see what's new--- i hope to keep this blog update somehow--not just on the new works that i have done but also about tips in sewing or decorating your houses...

i have always set aside updating the blog work -- that is why i never get it done --- now i have to just go straight at it and just put in whatever is at hand at the moment..so please be patient with me...

a while ago a got call from my daughter's friend, Rohaya fr KPMG, a former colleague of my daughter and earlier this year i made her sofa covers -- she promised to send me a picture of the sofa cover that i made for her.... here it is:

Nice huh? She is so happy and satisfied with the outcome...me too--i am happy to have a very happy customer who at the end of everyday of their lives is looking at my work...the material was from Master curtains - here in Tampin --- the best part in doing sofa covers is to have a good fit. I am glad it all went on fine...so the Sofa --beraya juga ;-)

Anyway, for today I'm just sharing my mom's throw pillow collection. Obviously this one is not for sale since it's ours...

Sunburst Pillow

Mini project this week is the Sunburst Pillow. When my mom mentioned the name I am thinking more of a "sunshine" type pillow (yeah, bantak bentuk matahari besar...get it?), but then when I opened my email today and saw the pics, I can't help but smile.....

For Datin Zainon's first Grandbaby

Datin Zainon is one of my mom's number one customer of all time, she did her curtains and bedding ever since she started going pro and made mostly everything for her...

And I guess she was a quite satisfied customer of my mom's since she kept on coming back over the years.

So far none of the work done for her was portrait here, and recently my mom made her a baby bedding set for her first grand daughter. Its so sweet, I felt like its quite interesting to share here...

My New Two Seater Sofa Cover

My mom took pity over this sorry piece of furniture at home,my good old goold old two seater which was handed down to me by her ex bos 5 years ago, that it was so old that the covers is a joke. Holla!!!! Miss me? I know I dah lama tak update kat sini, I left the updating bit to my mom _ the tailor extravant - but then sometimes dia pun terlupa nak update, so mulai hari ini I'm officially back to haunt all of you (with things that my mom do!). Hahahahaaahh!

hello, i know it has been a while since my last posting...there was i time when posting a pic was so slow and difficult for me--now i have resorted to this one...

these are my works on the past year--2008...mostly on double layer headers on combination of pelmets and box pleats, smocked and so on...and i also did some cushion covers ---

hope you will find it informative and interesting and maybe you can get ideas on how you want to dress up your windows...you must be able to decide well in the choices of your curtains--for hanging curtains is very much like painting your home--you dont do it everyday...so choose well decide well...

Just another lovely idea...

This is not my work, but i love the concept and the design of her curtains -its the new home of one of my bestfriends..all white, pure and simple. I love it for it compliments all the nice stuffs she has in her house...the curtain is all sewn in singapore pleats..both the day and night curtains..

Another one of her windows--roman blinds and sheer curtains in singapore pleats on the white wooden rail...nice huh? and though its not my work--i guess its worth sharing in my blog...right?perhaps you will like the design at you home...

Sofa Covers and past projects..

Sofa covers...hello..again..this time i am posting a sofa cover that i have made to this client back then.I didnt have the chance to take this picture when i first made it. She called me recently to make her ne curtains this year, and this time i have my phone camera with me and now i am posting it in this blog...

Sofa covers can make a sofa have a new look especially when it is white and you got kids around the house..the cushion covers were still okey so we decided to juts make the covers to give the sofa set a new look...i got the material that closely match the current cushion covers and see the outcome...i was able to get a cottton like material---a thick one...

The two seater...

This one is a curtain I sew back then ( best friend nak kahwin)--tapi tak sempat ambil gambar,baru ni je dapat..dah bertahun dah..but still the curtain looks good......pelmet style but this one has a padded one, using the fiber fill instead of the iron on hardener ( pengeras ). And the fringes in the edges...
Her bed corona...dah lama tapi masih okey lagi...guess i have to make a new one for her huh?...

Curtains ---more curtains....

I should have posted this a few months back..but again time and work has hindered me in doing so..but then now--i can't just keep on using that as an excuse...this curtain job is my second time to this client..remember the brocade gold bed set that i posted earlier? This is her house..this time her son is getting married...i love weddings..hehe..that means new curtains...so this time she wants something light...she choose her materials and after we have discuss the design she wants, all i have to do was tell her how many meters of fabric she needs to buy...

She wanted a day curtain on the bottom layer and as a header she choose a double box pleat with ribbons or shall i say--bow? ;-)

As for the other windows, pelmet w/ box pleats..the same design goes to all the other 3 rooms..didn't get the chance to take pics..was tied up hanging it..but i guess you can get the idea..

The door..since she only have one later railing --it used the french pleat all the three layers.

The doilies for the hantarans...my client wanted something different..maybe most of the ready made will be square or something..we just used the satin material for the bottom layer..and organza like material with the small stripes in it...and the crystal fringes...the fringes made it costly...but i guess the effect is nice...

A Happy Wedding Bride to be....

Hello to the readers of my blog..i know it has been quite a while that i have not posted anything -- I have been busy with a lot of things lately that i I know that I couldn"t find the time to put any latest update in my blog...but you see last week I was so happy with my work that i say to myself that I should post this...My customer is from Masjid Tanah, she is having her wedding tomorrow...i am happy and privilege that she choose me to sew her curtains, its her special day you know and I am glad to be a part of that day...by the way she found me in the net...nice huh?

Anyway, she started calling me, i gave her instructions to measure her room, we finally find ourselves hunting the material in Tampin..yup, just in Tampin, we don't need to go so far away, we found the right material for what she wanted.

Her concept of her Dream Room is all white, maybe she admire the pureness and the simplicity of the color...by describing me her dream and putting our heads together--we found the right material for her...

And here ---it is....

This is the header for the door leading to her room... it is pelmet header with box pleats.

After sewing it....trying to see how our match come out(so i laid it out ... so impatient to see the outcome,hehe)...the day curtain is at the bottom layer, she choose an embroidered lace using french pleat. The second layer is her header, pelmet with crystal lace. And lastly, the top layer is the day curtain sewn in goblets, with the brown buttons to accentuate the design. And so here it is...

Her main window is a bay window...and because we have a very limited space we decided to put the header of her matrimonial bed on that side...the pictures are a bit blurry...maybe because I just use a phone camera...but it looks so sweet..don't you agree?

The other window on the right side of the bed...I will post the goblet curtains for the bathroom door later..i don't seem to have it now...anyway...my client posted some pics she took while i was busy hanging it...will post it later ok?

And so, I am closing this entry with yours truly in the picture... :-) the woman behind the curtain that you are viewing now...this is one of my works that I feel a certain degree of satisfaction, not just because of the nice outcome of the project, but everything compliments each other. From the day curtain to the night curtain.At first I was afraid it will look flat, because white is a a simple color...one should be able to choose the right design and accessories to awaken it...and alas...somehow---it all came out fine...tomorrow when my client says her vows...I am happy to know I am part of that happy day...the best part of it is when she message me early the next morning---saying she was so happy to wake up the next day and opening the door to her bridal room---she sees a beautiful curtain that compliments everything...truly...nothing beats a ONE HAPPY CLIENT--A HAPPY WEDDING BRIDE!

Another Bed Corona

This weekend I finalize the bed corona of the Big house with many windows..now the whole house is ready for the upcoming wedding after hari raya haji..this corona uses a five meter 110'' width of the sheer material, and the header is a pelmet style with ruffles and garlands of flowers around the half moon..simply nice... Closer view...

Actually that is not the bedsheet....but now that the corona is ready i guess the only thing needed to be installed on the eve of the wedding... is the bed covers...

I had this curtains done two years ago,since i didnt have the cam yet at that time and due to busy schedules,it is only now i got the chance to take a pic of it..see how my designs last--curtains are like painting your house--you dont change it everyday so a lot of planning and visualization must be place on it--for you are going to live with it in the days of your lives--you wouldnt want to wake up in a shabby dressed windows huh?So plan well---dream well...I didnt get the sliding door but i guess the door will do for now...this is a pelmet style (since the checked material is a netting material, i had to put the hard type interfacing to have the pelmet hard look and it is layered with box pleat... this is the son's room--which has a small window on it..it is more or less another type of box pleat design...

Curtains@Pelmet style w/ Tails,Jabots & Fringes

My posting for this week, this curtain design is a pelmet style with tails & jabots and with crystal fringes..classy look and very nice..the material my client choose was a two tone material so you can both use both sides. Contrasting effect for the bodice and header. And a white embroidered sheer for her day curtain. This is the sliding door,width 10ft.

One of her two other windows in the living area..since it is only 5ft in width--i choose not to put the tails because it will overload the design...

A closer shot of the jabot..see how the crystal fringes complement the design... The Bilik Pengantin -7ft width window, 3 layers too... A simple Corona--actually it is a modified 1 foot wooden pole..and at the bottom,curtain hooks on both sides..just put some garlands..and you got the head piece of the bed..
The usual kitchen curtain - french pleats and ruffles on the curve...

Another of my customized bedcover,fitted bedsheet, made of chintz material. Very ideal for bedcovers. Colors is long lasting.
-Two pillows, two smaller rectangular ones w/ cord piping and a bolster.
Every bedcover is customize according to the wants and needs of the customer..some will ask for 4 pillows, some will opt for small square pillows..all will depend on the customers requirements...some will want more laces, more frills, etc..you tell me whats in your mind and i will try my best to sew it for you...one satisfaction my customers have is that they have a personalize and a customize end product, that is according to the material and the design that they wanted.Call me if you have something in mind--perhaps i can do something for you..till then..my email,phone no. is attach..call me ok?bye..

Please come in side...this is the door to the bedroom set and curtains that i made for a friend,she prefers the gold brocade material.She wanted something classy,that is why she chose brocade but fears that it isnt ideal for a bedroom set, so i combine the set with a cotton satin material in the inner part where in one sleeps, so that when it is sleeping time it will be comfortable --like you are in dreamland-same goes with the pillows--the other side of it is made of cotton satin--so it serves 2 purpose--decorative at daytime, comfy sleep at night...come lets go in.. This is the bed set...it comes with a half moon corona using pencil pleats and have this tussels with yellow stones...fancy...the bed set contains a fitted bedsheet,with box pleat skirts..the bedsheet is actually using golden colored cotton satin inside (so that one can sleep like one is in dreamland..) and brocade box pleat skirt..the comforter is brocade on the outside and cotton satin in the inside layer..frilled with ruffles all around.

A 2 layer balloon header is the design in this curtain...i couldnt take the pic of the sliding door because the light going in was so glaring. Anyhow, it looked the same way..hope you like the pattern, but the design requires a lot of material to have the balloon effect..but it is nice...out of the ordinary...

Last Part-The Big House w/ many windows

This are the pictures taken in the main hall of the Big House..due to lack of time my friend choose the ready made embroidered header material for her header, all is using the simple french pleat in every layer of the curtain..in this case we have place the thick night material in the innermost part of the rod..the day curtain is on the top part..another way of hanging curtains-- The dining hall area...
Inside this two curtains is a two 3-sided window where in we hang the night curtain,on the outer part as you see, is the day curtain and the header...now you can believe me--why i refer this house "many windows" ;-)

This is another one of the main room of the Big House--part of the plan is to use this room for the wedding that is soon to come..it is quite a big room it has 2 big windows, one is a three sided window...i am so sorry the pics doesnt turn out very good because it is a phone camera and it was taken at night after i had set it up..the lighting in this room is the yellow romantic lights of the chandelier...maybe next time i'll get it during daytime..one of the big windows--room has a high ceiling so i decided to make the two layer box pleat header...
This is the 2 big windows i am telling you--the three sided window on your left...again it has a three layer curtain rod (day,nite and header).

The Big House w/ many windows...

I was recently given the privilege of sewing for a friend -- her house was big so i guess that is what happens when you have a big land and as time goes on when one does the renovations and extentions, you lost track of the doors and windows that keep on adding as the works went on..well, i will show you some of the shots i got in this project..this is one of the main room..it s is a three layer curtain--so you will need three layers of curtain rods..one for the day curtain--which is the lighter material, then goes the night curtain, which is the thick material that you usually pull up in the night so that you will be hidden from the rest of the world,haha..and the top one is called the header --that is what i call the crown of the curtain--it stay put--day or night time...this one is a pelmet and a box pleat combination. As you can see this is the night time set up-- this is the daytime set up..when you pull aside the night curtains and tie it with the tieback..
This is the entrance to the room..it is a simple curtain..the header sewn together with the bodice of the curtain using french pleat.
well..that is all at the moment..i have to separate the posting of this house so as not to crowd the space..my friend once told me--if she were to advice people making their houses..she will advice not to make one with too many windows...but i told here...dont worry..that's why i am here...i'll help you dress them up! ;-) ok ppl--c u in my next post...

From a Palstic basket to baby basket...

This is actually my first post, my daughter has been telling me to update this blog--i guess if i keep clinging to my busy schedule i wont be able to have time for this-- i just have to truly find the time and fit this in my schedule..as my first post i am posting this baby basket,i made this for a friend, for her new born baby, we all know the usage of the basket will be outgrown in a few months when the baby learns to roll or maybe grew a bit longer in just a couple of months..it will also be be nice for your pets or at a later stage make it as a laundry basket...it is design to be removable so it can easily be washed. At the bottom there is a two layer fiber fill--softer for the baby, it can also come with a matching pillow and comforter...i always stress personalization and customization--every project has the personal touch--one never is the same with the other...materials,frills, laces, can vary in every project..tell me what is in your mind and i will sew it for you...till my next post---

Hi peeps!!!

It has been a while since any entry was posted...mommy had been bz with a lot of things, she had been helping out mama ros (her very very close friend, like my very own mother) at her shop in Kelantan, then the whole family was busy with Mama Ros's son , Fadli's, wedding last August...so for a while my mom's own sewing and curtain making projects had been left idle, not that there is nothing at all, just time had been a luxury.....will push for more updates within the next few weeks to prep up for Hari Raya.

Speaking of the time of the year....that's when everyone is busy decorating....change everything to new...maklumla...once a year.

Well, hopefully we can dish up something to inspire everyone within the next few days...i'll see if there is anything interesting..hahaha!

Tips on Getting Your Curtains Done!!!

Over the past few days, I have met a few confused souls on curtain making.

Not that they are totally clueless, its just that most of us are new in getting it done....since we may be first timers in doing this (and all this while the matter had been left to mommy dearest to handle...), or maybe first time house-owners ourselves, we wanted the best and in amidst thinking about it....get confused.

Don't fret everybody....its a common problem... i bet our mom's had the same problem when they first started out.

So over tea and discussing about my wedding cake yesterday (yeah....I'm choosing a wedding cake people!!!), I shot my mom for some tips to save us all time and cost....and here it goes;

1. Decide on the design & budget
That's the golden rule....to first know what you want and how you want it. You have to be able to picture the design on your window, and whether you like it or not, and how much you are willing to spend on it.

To some people, budget is econdary....so they can go with anything they want at whatever cost.

But to others who have a budget, you might want to consider the minimum and maximum ceiling price you are willing to spend....so later you can consult your tailor on best options that fits the budget.

Of course, with the design comes the color theme and preferred choice of fabric. Maybe its best that you have a few choices of design in mind, just to keep your option open in case the earlier chosen design can't fit the budget you have set. If you can't make up your mind on the choice of fabric, its ok, you can always consult your tailor on the best choice of fabric for your chosen design, and later decide during the fabric hunt.

2. Talk to your tailor.
By now most of us will be excited and start scouting for the materials and fabrics, but hold your horses, its best if you consult your tailor first. Why?

(i) So you can save time from getting confused and waste money unnecessarily because you buy materials that is too expensive/not suitable for the design. The consultation can also provide you with the most crucial information of all - the measurement of the curtains and how much fabric, and what material you will need to come up with the curtains. It may come in very handy when you go material hunting later.

(ii) Clarify on how much it will cost you to tailor the design...take note, each design will cost differently depending on how difficult it is to make them.

(iii) Ask for opinion, ideas, suggestions.

(iv) Make sure your budget is adequate, and ways to optimise it (like how much you can cut down on price of materials etc).

(v) Check on a few tailors. You might want to consult a few of them, so you will be able to make a choice on the best tailor , the quality of workmanship and the most favorable pricing.

3. Go Material Hunting!!!!
Once equipped with all the information obtained from your consultation....what else to do but hunt for them.

This is the time to check out the bargains, shop around, and get what you need.

Malaysia have a lot of bargains for curtain materials/fabrics all year round....check out the shops along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman like Globe, Kamdar, Nagoya....they will have bargain offers from time to time that might suit your needs.

Best of all...get your tailor to tag along for advice. My mom always help her customers by going on and about (when they want her to) and provide useful advice - so that we all get a win-win thing.

4. Choose the best tailor.

Before you send the materials u buy in (3), you better choose the best tailor you can find...this is VERY IMPORTANT!!!!You don't want your windows look like crap all year round right??

5. After sales services
Also consider other stuff...like after sales services. Check out who's going to set up the curtains when they are done, pointers to maintain them so that it'll be mint for a long period of time.

Normally the first set up will be done by the tailor (for free...do check whether they will charge you for that). When they do set it up for you, do make sure that you learn how to do it yourself the next time....ask as may questions you need, because some designs, like the scallop, would require extra work.

Also ask the tailor on what you should so to maintain the curtains, how to clean them (some materials/design can only be dry cleaned) and do keep close contact with your tailor...who knows you might need them to help with a curtain emergency in the future!

The One When My Friend Farah Moved to Her New Home at Cyberjaya

This one is done for my ex-housemate, Farah, when she moved to her new home in Cyberjaya a while ago. We did the whole house (3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and laundry romm - yeah, they have a laundry room) but I only manage to grab pics for the rooms and living room - because when I was around (then la...), they are still waiting for the rods to put on the blinds (for the laundry room and kitchen) to be fixed...and when they do fix it, my mom didn't take a photo...maybe I'll ring Farah one day and get her to get them for me...of course, for your viewing pleasure.

This is Farah's master bedroom curtains....made of high quality cotton fabric in pelmet-boxzplit design. We have more or less the same designs for all the rooms, just different material and finisahing.

Usually,in amidst the excitement of making nice curtains for others, we tend to forget our own (ehehheh! though mommy tailor for people, we hardly change curtains as often ad people think!)

But then, my mom is still able to come up with a nice one last Hari Raya...in which we used for my engagement last February.

Unfortunately there's not many pic's of it (regrettably... but thanks to my dear friend photographer's we got one!)...the above is our living room photo.

OK...I know my engagement theme color is suppose to be gold...dashed with green...and the curtains are pink (a bit off right?), but the pink curtains matched our walls (can you see?it's pastel pink!).

We so have to get the walls repainted before my wedding in December.

The Final Results as promised...of last weekend's wedding

Green is so in this season...almost everywhere I go I can see a wedding in green...all year. Maybe it's the official color of 2007....my engagement almost went green itself....from the expected gold theme.

The throw pillows on the bed is made with a mixture of cotton satin and cotton fabric....lined with laces and heavy linings. The comforter is 100% hand quilted. Nice eh? It took mom a week to finish the whole room.

The curtain at the main window is made of the same fabric...in pelmet and box split desing headers.

The curtain to the bathroom doors (above pic) is done much simpler...with tap curtain, so it doesn't overpower the main windows.

Balloons....hmm...don't ask me why this curtain is called in such a way....my mom told me it has something to do with the ballooning header....still, its a nice design to consider.

Blinds!!!!I love blinds too....hehehe...though its a tad impractical if you have little kids running around in the house. The trait I like most about blinds is the simplistic look it gave to a living room, or a common are...how it looks less complicate, easier to manage than swags and scallops.

This are some ideas we collected to show to our friends and families. Most of our customers hesitated to do blinds because of the cost - the retail price of the roads and strings attached to the blinds are pretty costly. But to blinds lovers....don't despair.If you are on a budget, we know how to improvise and make our own rods and strings for the blinds...at a much affordable cost. That, I believe, had left smiles in some of my friend's faces....

This is one of a popular blinds design in the market recently. Curtain lovers can find it everywhere....and it's so practical to set up, we can even find it in IKEA.

It can also be combined with other designs....for example, we can have a blinds back drop combined with either a swag, scallop or pelmet header. Or we can have blinds as a header, and a pair of tap curtains for the body. The possibilities are just endless!!!

Swags....I feel that swags are rarely done in Malaysian homes, but we did several houses with the design in the past 2 years and the results had been amazing!!

Though it can be as beautiful as a scallop in a living room, it can also be equally nice if done in a study room or kitchen.

One of the most in demand design at late is to pair swags with tap for a kitchen-cafe window.....such as in the sample in blue below.

Mini swags is also a popular design, paired with blinds and french plaite curtains.

Don't u think it brings the feeling as if you are in the country?

This is definitely a choice for the sophistacted ones who still loves the homey type stuff at heart. Paired with fresh bouquet at flower, you can definitely create a posh yet comfortable living space.

Beddings - Latest bedsheet for wedding project!

We have been working on a set of bedsheet and pillow cases for a wedding tomorrow in Seremban. Its a wedding of a family friend who we have known for ages, and we are as excited in making the event a memorable one .

The motive is green and lively...and apart from the normal satin or embroidered cotton bedsheets we have for weddings, we have made an exclusive hand quilted comforter set, with matching pillow and mini pillows in assorted designs.

And of course ..... with the beddings comes a matching curtains set in box split and pelmet design..... a simple elegant touch in enlightning the room. Both the curtains and beddings had been set up since last week....

We'll also be working on the pelamin for the wedding tonight....my mom is already on her way to the family house at the moment to help with the final preparations. We'll update on the event by next week for everyone!!!

Hola!!!!

First of all...I wish to welcome all of you to our official weblog!Well, I'm doing this for my mom...so from time to time you will see my mom posting her artwork for your viewing pleasure.

Where should we start? Let's start with how my mom first get involved in sewing.

She use to take up sewing as a hobby when my dad was with the army, and when I was a kid, she use to make us our own baju kurung every year (well...she still does to date...but since her daughters have all grown up and prefer kebaya these days, she get to have some time off lately). As time goes by, she got more focused in tailoring curtains, catering to friends and family....and today, here we are....braving the world....
